Third Trimester...Finally!

Yay...I am now officially in the third trimester! I thought this would never come! Things have been going pretty well. I don't have much heartburn now (thanks to Zantac!), but now the leg cramps and the non-stop kicking at night has begun! Normally, I am a tummy sleeper and can't sleep any other way, but obviously that has not been working lately. It's not that I am huge yet...it's that when I do lay on my stomach, the baby starts kicking like crazy! I don't think he likes feeling smushed. Not to mention, I feel like his foot is stuck in my ribs all day long...such a weird feeling! Joe has been such a huge help to me; he's really encouraged me to go to class when I feel exhausted and work when I feel like I just can't make it through the day. It's a blessing that I've been able to keep up with my classes and have good grades so far! I've started getting into the "nesting" phase, which is weird because normally Joe is the more organized person in our house. But now, I feel like everything has to be spotless and I get so stressed out if there is anything out! I also have re-organized a lot of our drawers and closets...I feel like we are running out of time before he comes! Poor Joe, I think he thinks I am going insane--he always says, "Caroline, you know, we do have THREE more months til he is here." Which is true, but it just doesn't seem like very much time! I really just can't believe that I only have 3 months left! Hopefully, the time will go by as fast as the first and second trimesters did!

Update!

I had another prenatal appointment last week and all is looking good! We were a little concerned for the past because at our last ultrasound (Dec 16th) the OB said that she wanted to do a follow-up ultrasound because there was some extra fluid in the baby's brain. So, for the whole month, we were pretty worried and were really hoping that it would clear up. Fortunately, it is all gone and little Joseph is very healthy! The ultrasound technician also confirmed that the baby is definitely a BOY, and he was sure not afraid to let us know this time! We are pretty set on naming him Joseph Hilton King. He will be the 6th Joseph King--pretty awesome!

My pregnancy has been great, especially for the past month or so. I did have heartburn pretty bad, but discovered Zantac (Tums and Pepcid don't work!) and it has been my LIFESAVER. I don't even really have much heartburn anymore. I also have carpal tunnel which makes sleeping very difficult and have to wear hand braces to keep my hands as straight as possible. Having a computer job doesn't help very much either. I just keep telling myself..."it's almost over!"

Things have gone by so fast! I can't believe I have just under 3 1/2 months left! We are started to put together his nursery and found a really cute bedding set on amazon for a great price! Oh, I love bargain shopping! There is a picture of it below...we even got all of the cute accessories to go with it (the lamp, the wall hangings, etc.)

Joe and I are both keeping busy with school and work--I think that is a big reason that my pregnancy has gone by so fast! I work 20 hours a week and am taking 12 credit hours. One class I am taking is a Research class, which will really prepare me for grad school. It is a busy class! Next week I am starting a GRE prep course. It is on Tuesday nights from 5-9 PM, and Saturdays 8-12. There are a few Marriage and Family Therapy/Social Work programs I am interested in. Although it will be difficult, especially with a little baby, I am determined to get my Masters out of the way. It has always been a dream/goal of mine. Joe is taking 12 credits, working 20 hours a week, and just started an LSAT prep course (ACE) this week. His course is on Tuesday/Thursday nights for 3 hours, plus he has to take a practice test every Saturday from 8-12 for 8 weeks. Life is crazy, but good!

IT'S A BOY!!!!

We went to the ultrasound appointment and were in there for about 30 minutes because he was moving around SO much and it was hard to tell what he was at first!  The ultrasound tech said she was positive he is a boy.  YAY for boys!  We will most like name him Joseph Hilton King.  Joe, my husband, is the 5th Joseph King, so our baby will be the 6th!  How cool.  Well, this is our big news for the week.  We are heading out to St. Louis for the holidays and are excited.  Christmas Eve, I will be 20 weeks and exactly halfway done being pregnant--woo hoo!  We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.  We love you and wish you Merry Christmas!!

Wednesday is our big day!

On Wednesday we will FINALLY find out whether our baby is a boy or a girl! Hopefully, the baby will cooperate enough and not be ashamed to reveal his or her gender. We are so excited to know, so we can start putting together our nursery. We go in at 9:30 AM and will let everyone know by the end of the day! We have had a lot more votes that it is going to be a girl. In fact, we even have a friend that gave us a blanket with pink lining on it. She said it was the only fabric she had, but I really think that it's because she thinks it is going to be a girl! :) Well, Wednesday will reveal the truth!

17 weeks!

I'm almost 17 weeks (this Thursday) and time has really flown by!  We will find out whether our baby is a boy or girl on December 16th and cannot wait!  I have been feeling movement lately.  The first time was last week during the Savior of the World performance in Salt Lake. Then, I felt it move A TON when we were in Texas eating Mexican food...the salsa was making he/she go crazy!  I think this baby is going to be very active when it's born!  Unfortunately, morning sickness has not passed by me yet.  I have a feeling I may have to deal with it throughout the whole pregnancy, as I am almost a month into the 2nd trimester.  But that's ok.  I know it will be all worth it in the end.

This is our 12-week ultrasound picture, so a couple of weeks ago. We were so excited to see our little baby! The heart was beating very strong at 170, and according to an old wives tale, the higher the heart rate, the more likely it is a girl! I guess we will find out in about a month from today. We are going in on Dec. 16th, but decided we are going to have the doctor write down the gender on a piece of paper. We will then take it to Babies R Us and choose a boy and girl outfit that are the same price (so we won't know). We'll tell the person to look at the piece of paper and wrap up the corresponding outfit and will come back later and pick it up! We thought it would be more exciting that way--then we will be able to open it Christmas Eve with the King family. It will be fun because this is their first grandchild!

10 weeks!

Well today, I am officially 10 weeks!! As of today, I will post a new picture every week. Time is seriously flying by so fast. I can't believe I am 1/4 of the way done. I can do this. I only have 2 more weeks and I will be done with the first trimester. From what I've heard/read, things get much better than. As far as I am feeling, this pregnancy has gone very well. I've always had a very weak stomach since I was little, so I always thought that I would have horrible pregnancies and be sick the whole 9 months. Not the case. I've only gotten really sick 4 or 5 times. So, either I am one of the "lucky" ones or the Lord is really blessing me. Being in school full-time, working part-time, taking care of household responsibilities (which Joe does as much as me--he's so good!) and being pregnant is very difficult. Sometimes I wonder how I am going to keep my eyes open throughout the day. Sleeping is difficult at night, I feel like I can never get comfortable, and of course have to make bathroom trips 3-4 times a night!
Joe and I both can't wait to go to our first "REAL" appointment in 2 weeks, where we will finally see the baby. The worrying has really been stressing me out! We also CANNOT wait to find out the gender of the baby. I can't imagine waiting until the baby is born to find out. Maybe it's because I'm not much of a surprise person...but that would be so difficult for me to wait (and Joe too)! We will find out the gender around the week of Dec. 14-18 (right during finals!) and before Christmas! So, in about 2 months from now! There have been more votes that we are having a boy...we will see! Any other guesses?
